Today I got two e-mails from purchasers of the new expanded edition of Common Errors in English Usage—very exciting!

In the entry on “about” I refer to truffle-making. Every Christmas I make dark, buttery chocolate truffles dipped in more dark chocolate. I’m not very good at striking the right temperature balance to keep the coating from becoming streaky after a few days. It’s a good thing they don’t last long.
This year I’ll be making them with Mast Brothers artisanal chocolate. I bought a large slab at their factory where my daughter Megan took us on a recent tour of some of her favorite spots in Brooklyn.
