We may now stop corrupting our youth . . .

. . . with the notion that "hopefully" is prohibited as a sentence adverb.

Naturally, Paul Brians has held a rational position on it for a long, long time:

Hopefully

This word has meant “it is to be hoped” for a very long time, and those who insist it can only mean “in a hopeful fashion” display more hopefulness than realism.
